How to get ready for your appointment?

Here are some steps to help your appointment go smoothly!

  1. Call us to make an appointment 
  2. Please fill out the questionnaire and consent form before your appointment.
  3. Don’t forget to have your vaccination record ready. 
  4. You can arrive a few minutes before your appointment, remember that a limited number of people can be in the pharmacy.  
  5. If you need to refill medication, you can contact us a day before your visit to have it ready for you. 
  6. If you have any symptoms, please wear a face mask before and during your visit 
  7. If you feel unwell, don't worry! You can always contact us to reschedule your appointment. 

 

Which are the vaccines currently available and approved in Canada?

Current vaccines are Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. 

 

For how long am I protected?

This depends on your health. Immunosuppressed patients may need more time to develop antibodies. Additional doses may be required depending on the vaccine. Provincial guidelines give more information about this. 

 

Can I choose which vaccine to get?

Vaccines will be given according to availability and phases to help the most vulnerable people first. 

 

What should I do after getting vaccinated?

You will be asked to wait 15 minutes after the vaccine to monitor your reaction. Please follow local guidelines by maintaining social distance and wearing a face mask while waiting. Do not drive if you feel unwell.

 

What are COVID-19 side effects?

Vaccine reaction may be similar to the flu shot, effects are mild, non-serious and for a short period of time. If they persist for a longer time, please call your physician. 

Some of the side effects are listed below:

  • Discomfort or redness where vaccine was applied
  • Chills or fever
  • Headache
  • Joint or body aches
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting 
  • Diarrhea  

 

When should I take the second dose?

Depends on the type of vaccine. Provincial guidelines provide more information about dosages. 

 

Can I stop following the safety measures after getting vaccinated?

It is strongly recommended to keep following your provincial guidelines. Vaccine helps to boost your immune system and prevent severe symptoms, however you still can get the virus and transmit it to others. Keep in mind there is a portion of people that is asymptomatic.
